Benchmark FINALLY gets to the Tuna grounds for the first time this year!

We ran to the  middle grounds last Wednesday for a scouting trip, after hearing of the loads of Bluefin Tuna within our realm. Well guys, the reports are right! The fishing was good, with multiple 2 & 3 on at a time, once we honed in on them. We stopped on readings and chic birds, short of the spot, and found nothing but…See More

Benchmark Adds over 30 tagged Tuna to the schools!

In our last three trips out, the fishing has been great. We did an overnighter on the Inshore grounds with the boys from Kohler Industries, due to the great action, and lack thereof offshore... We had our best bite from 3am-6am, before calling it a end, just after first light. We had the Drew Kelly trip, which we made a stop at the "Rose" in confused sea conditions, trolling our way in produced no bites, after marking them. We set up on the hook, and kept them biting on baits from the first…See More

8-29-10 First Tagging trip for the Benchmark!

Bill Anderson and his crew were aboard the Benchmark on the 28th and 29th of August for an overnight canyon run. On our way out we made a pit stop to try and catch some Bluefin and were not dissappointed, immediately after throttling back, we had fish boiling in front of us. Within the next 1hr and 15 minutes we tagged and released 14, and released another 8 fish or more all in the 30-40lb class on jigs. It was fast and furious. As for the Tagging side of the game, We had a very seasoned group…See More
