Hey WestCoastAngler - thanks for joining SavetheBluefin. Love your profile photo! Good thing the rail is there eh? Looks like your pinned. As a fellow sportfisherman I have a feeling you know what it's like to be in the presence of tuna and probably love these fish because of your experiences. Although the bluefin in the Pacific are in better shape, the situation is not great and if the Atlantic stocks collapse I worry for the Pacific bluefin and yellowfin.
What's missing in this fight against industry folks is the powerful voice of the people to insist programs be put in place to allow the bluefin to survive. Now more than ever your voice counts so thanks for taking the effort here.
So if I may ask, please spread the word to people around you and if you go out to eat in any restaurant, sushi included, "ask before you eat." If they serve bluefin shame on them and let em' know!
Hey thanks for the support. I was not aware of the live bluefin market happening in Mexico. Is this market in compliance with quotas or illegal? I am thinking the latter and really that's a huge problem. The illegal take and lack of enforcement is taking a huge toll and has to stop.
That's awesome that the Royal Star did a research mission. I am sure Professor Barbara Block from the Tag-A-Giant Foundation was involved. I love what she is doing and in fact support her efforts whenever I can.
So yes I would love to send you a banner for your site. That is most generous of you. I will return the favor by blogging about your site as well and linking back.
I will keep in touch. If you ever get back to the East Coast let me know. maybe we can hook up for some stripers - we've been doing really good this fall so far.
Hi - I have been playing with the banner and realized that probably the best item you could place on the site is the "SaveTheBluefin widget." The widget changes over time showing the number of members so it's a bit interactive. You can see the widget on this page - right hand side bar titled "SaveThe Bluefin Badge". Here is the snippet of code;
Visit Save The Bluefin
Guido over at Seaway Blog has the widget at the bottom of his right hand side bar - looks pretty nice in my opinion. Check his post - the tuna images are insane. If that doesn't fire me up to help this awesome fish nothing will.
ok so let me know what you think - looking forward to connecting -
sorry - I guess the code works in comments too:) so that's what the widget looks like. Go here to grab the code snippet. It's the third widget from the top titled Small Network Badge. Any issues you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org anytime. Thanks again.
