ICCAT Scientists Concede Bluefin Needs CITIES Protection

Finally the science arm of ICCAT has surfaced with support for listing the Atlantic bluefin under CITES protection. The main metric here is that the spawning biomass is less than 15% of historic levels. This is a great step. Still trying to make sense out of NOAA's "support" of bluefin tuna protection

Here is the official and puzzling statement saying the USA "supports" protecting the bluefin tuna. The best option we were hoping for was NOAA to "Co-Sponsor" protecting the bluefin.
