We ran to the middle grounds last Wednesday for a scouting trip, after hearing of the loads of Bluefin Tuna within our realm. Well guys, the reports are right! The fishing was good, with multiple 2 & 3 on at a time, once we honed in on them. We stopped on readings and chic birds, short of the spot, and found nothing but bluefish. We motored to the fleet of scallop boats and instantly, on the troll had a nice 40lb fish. We made our way, hooking up with 6 bluefin and multiple bluefish. Once we got to the scallop boat, and switched over to the bait, we had a fish on every rod in the water. We tagged 10 more fish in the time we spent enjoying a “day off”. We went right on the drift for shark, only able to entice blue sharks, releasing 4 of them before calling it a day, and hitting the dock by 4:30pm. Great way to start the midshore season, and I really hope this is just a sign of a stellar season ahead! Finally got the GoPro cam hooked up, so video to come, once we get out again!
