Breaking News: Save The Bluefin's New Program for Sportfishermen and Charter Boats

SaveTheBluefin is pleased to announce a great program for charter boat captains and their anglers to help save some bluefin tuna this summer. The program is called Save The Bluefin - Catch & Release that gives recognition and incentive for bluefin tuna anglers to release the bluefin they may catch this summer.

Giving Recognition:
Anglers who choose to release their bluefin tuna can upload or send images or videos of their tuna and tell their story here on SaveTheBluefin.com. We believe those anglers who choose to release their bluefin and the charter captains who support that choice should be recognized.

Giving Incentive:
Additionally anglers that choose to release their bluefin will receive a Save The Bluefin Angler Care Package that will include items from our supporters. You can visit the Save The Bluefin Catch & Release link to view the updated items from our supporters. We understand that releasing a bluefin back into the water means anglers are giving up the option to take fish home to enjoy. The Save The Bluefin Care Package aims to alleviate some of that loss. In the end, the value of the bluefin you catch this summer is worth so much more alive than dead, as the stocks need to re-build and every fish counts.

Charter Boats:
It's free to enroll in the program for charter boats. Details on how to enroll, rules and an updated rooster of participating captains can be found here.

Media partners will be covering the program.

If additional media or companies would like to become a partner by covering the program or contribute to the Save The Bluefin Care Package please email savethebluefintuna@gmail.com. We are looking for more partners and if you care about saving some bluefin tuna this summer please do reach out.

Some of the items we are currently looking for include;
* Retail seafood company that ships sustainable seafood to consumers
* Offshore tackle manufacturer
* Boating retailer
* Offshore fishing webinar provider
* Magazine subscription
* Fishing apparel

John, this is great. Catch and release is the way forward!

May I suggest that you hook up with UNH's tag-a-tiny program? Fish are released AND participation provides important information for fish stocks and management.

It is easy and free to sign up via http://www.tunalab.unh.edu/Tagatiny.htm. Recreational, charter operators, and charter customers can sign up.
