The Shore Catch Guide Service Captains (Gene Quigley, Jim Freda, Tom OLoughlin) are putting their clients on the bluefin day in and day out this season. On some days they have their work cut out, and on other days the bite is wide open. Check their site for details on what jigs are working, and the different conventional and spinning combinations from Spinal Rods, Van Staal and Avet reels. I really like the Van Staal 200 paired with the Spinal 300 gram spinning rod. This setup looks super fun for our Jersey bluefin. Here's a couple great videos and photos from their recent trips on anglers catching, tagging and releasing bluefin tuna. Enjoy and thanks Shore Catch for participating in the bluefin tagging program!

Aftco tailer is use here as a method to bring a tuna on board.
Covering the tuna's eyes with a towel will stop any movement making it easier to tag, unhook and get the tuna back in the water. Also the towel minimizes the tuna beating on the floor of the boat which can cause further injury.
Ready to go back in and attack the sand eels.
Tagged and headed back in from the hands of a proud angler.
